POSITION SUMMARY:
Scotiabank's International Banking - Business Profitability & Decision Support group is seeking a Senior Manager, MIS to join their growing team. Reporting to the Director, the Senior Manager is responsible for providing the Decision Support team with information regarding profitability by multiple dimensions within International Banking.
This includes:
- Providing strong financial management support and advice to the business lines within International Banking, based on profitability and using the MIS insights.
- Implementing an integrated framework of reports and communications to support International Banking senior management.
- Leveraging best practices within business lines globally and locally with respect to the profitability of similar countries, regions or branches for comparable market segments and products to optimize performance throughout International Banking.
- Identifying improvement opportunities and influencing the implementation of profitable initiatives in the applicable countries.
- Coordinating the integration of changes in processes and system requirements to cover gaps in the customer information needed for Top Management Decision Support.
- Facilitating the incorporation of changes in the MIS to recognize organizational dynamics.
- Facilitating the linkage of financial and operational results to the appropriate Balanced Score Cards.
- Delivering active training to the International Banking user community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, excellent financial analysis skills with a solid grasp of bank profitability and performance measurement tools/criteria.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize problems and clearly apply analytical techniques for evaluating segments, products, channels in order to make sound financial recommendations to senior executives.
- Organizational, managerial, interpersonal and communication skills to direct varied activities within tight deadlines, alleviate conflicts as they arise and liaise with senior management.
- Strong people skills are required to foster a positive work environment that values teamwork and provides a productive, enjoyable and satisfying experience for all staff.
- Ability to deliver training and results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities is essential.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office 2007, working knowledge of SQL Server, Multidimensional Cubes and banking financial reporting tools/software. Visual Basic and programming techniques is ideal.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and vernal in order to work with all levels of employees.
EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
- MBA degree an asset.
