Mortgage Specialist

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

POSITION SUMMARY:


Calling on your knowledge of mortgage financing and sales experience, you will develop a sales/territory plan for prospects and referral business opportunities. You will be responsible to promote and maximize the development and growth of residential mortgage business by operation as a separate business channel and attracting and generating new business from alternate sources outside the branch network. You will also use your market development, negotiating and customer service skills to build and maintain a network of relationships in the realtor community i.e. Builders, Realtors, Brokers, Lawyers, Financial Planners etc...


Our Domestic Banking division provides a comprehensive range of banking and investment services to almost 7 million retail, wealth management, small business and commercial customers across Canada. Our multi-channel domestic delivery network includes more than 970 branches, close to 2,750 ABMs, Internet, telephone and wireless banking.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • You have extensive sales and marketing experience.

  • You are a proven business developer in a mobile work environment.

  • You possess excellent mortgage underwriting and relationship-building skills, and are adept at negotiating.

About Retail Banking:

The Retail Branch sales and service team helps individual customers and small businesses become financially better off, by providing advice, information and service to help them achieve their personal and business goals.

Individuals in this career field perform a variety of sales and services jobs including: achieving negotiated personal sales and sales activity goals through the identification and satisfaction of customer needs; providing excellent customer service by offering a full range of customized financial solutions; building and maintaining a portfolio of customers; promoting and maximizing the development and growth of residential mortgage business; promoting and selling lending and deposit products and services while applying sound risk analysis techniques and credit adjudication judgment.

Individuals working in this area hold a University diploma / degree and depending on the role are required to have successfully completed a qualifying course of study to obtain a licence to sell mutual funds such as the Canadian Investment Funds Course (CIFC), the Investment Funds in Canada Course (IFC), the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and achieve a financial planning proficiency standard such as the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) and/or a designation as an Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP).
