Manager Business Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Business Analysis will report to the Senior Manager, Domestic Operations Support. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day product and operational support and management of related projects for their assigned products and internal clients. This role requires a strong understanding of the financial services industry and related processes with excellent analytical and problem solving skills. The incumbent must possess strong communication and excellent customer relationship management skils.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- The Manager, Business Analysis is responsible to provide support, analysis and resolution of operational, Broadridge and other system problems for designated internal clients. The incumbent also provides support to Securities projects, working with project team members to conceptualise, define, develop, test, implement and maintain applications consistent with the agreed systems strategy of Securities Operations. The incumbent manages multiple initiatives, systems enhancements and support accountabilities concurrently, and provides guidance and support to one or more direct reports.
- The incumbent analyzes and liaises with internal/vendor technology teams to resolve production problems, coordinates and communicates application maintenance activities, identifies automation or work simplification opportunities, works with staff and end-users to define business and operational requirements, secures the consensus and co-operation of users and senior management, prepares and reviews documentation (business requirements, action plans, test plans, test cases, conversion and implementation strategies, procedural documentation, status reports, etc.), contributes to and supports project teams, and provides training, testing and implementation support.
- The incumbent ensures and provides a high level of customer service in accordance with Scotia Service Standards and Complaint Resolution Procedures.
- The incumbent will have one direct report.
QUALIFICATIONS:- A minimum 5-years operational experience and an in-depth understanding of Canadian securities processing functions in a Broadridge BPS (Brokerage Processing System) processing or comparable environment, with detailed understanding in one or more areas relating to name & address, security master, registered products, margin, trust, trading/contracts, client accounting, margin, tax, credit/debit interest, account transfers, entitlements, settlements and/or reconciliation;
- In-depth knowledge of securities-related products and services and the industry's practices, regulations and conventions;
- Experience managing and successfully delivering small operations/technology projects (<$250,000);
- An investigative, analytical and problem solving ability and sound judgement in order to identify and conceptualise alternatives and recommend possible solutions in the absence of established precedents;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills with the ability to effectively lead, manage and motivate staff and work effectively with other team members;
- Results-oriented with an ability to communicate a course of action and achieve co-ordinated objectives by delegating assignments where appropriate, directing staff and following-up on their activities;
- A strong sense of flexibility with an ability to work under tight time frames and complete assignments on time with minimal supervision/direction;
- Excellent time management and organization skills in order to effectively manage several priorities simultaneously.
EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS:- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is an asset but not required.
